TiVo, Brother & Aspyr Announce Rendezvous Networked Products
CES, LAS VEGAS and MACWORLD EXPO, SAN FRANCISCO—January 7, 2003—The rapidadoption of Rendezvous™ continues with TiVo, Brother and Aspyr todayannouncing new products incorporating Rendezvous networking. Rendezvous isApple´s innovative networking technology for automatic discovery andconnection of devices over industry-standard IP networks such as Ethernetand 802.11 wireless networks. Using Rendezvous, consumer devices such asstereos and digital video recorders can automatically find and "talk" to anyMacs on their local wired or wireless network, making it possible for usersto stream audio from iTunes® to their home stereo and display iPhotos ontheir TVs.

"These Rendezvous enabled productsgive consumers the ability to stream audio from iTunes to their home stereo,display iPhotos on their TVs, connect a printer in seconds and eliminate thecomplexity barriers of playing networked games."
Rendezvous uses industry standard networking protocols and zeroconfiguration technology to automatically discover and connect devices overany IP network, including Ethernet and 802.11 wireless networks. Apple® hassubmitted Rendezvous as an open standard as part of the ongoing IETFstandardization process. By making the source code freely available, Applehas made it easy for developers to use Rendezvous technology in theirnetwork-enabled devices or software applications.
